It’s National Apprenticeship Week!
Catalyst Connection celebrated this past Tuesday, November 15th at Burrell High School with students currently enrolled in our Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) Pre-Apprenticeship Program. We also worked with a few other STEM students doing hands-on experience with the Skill Boss and a Manufacturing Breakout Box.
The Skill Boss is a desktop manufacturing simulator that was created by Amatrol to align with the Certified Production Technician (CPT) certification. The Manufacturing Breakout Box is an activity created by IU1 using BreakoutEDU. Both of these hands-on experiences are fun and informative for students!
Hannah, Scott and Mara from the Catalyst Connection Workforce Team were joined yesterday by two JV Manufacturing representatives (and Burrell alum!) to talk about their successful career pathways into manufacturing. Amber and Marty from JV Manufacturing are both involved with Catalyst Connection; Amber is involved in our Manufacturing Navigators Program and Marty is involved in our IMT Apprenticeship Program. The students found them to be very relatable and informative! Also joining the team were three representatives from the State Apprenticeship and Training Office (ATO). These representatives talked about the incredible opportunities that pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships provide. Tara, Danielle and Cristie from the State ATO were also able to hand out Manufacturing Skill Standard Council (MSSC) Safety Certificates that were earned last week by four pre-apprentices!
It was a wonderful event, and we are so thankful to everyone who took time out of their days to be involved!
