Students from Laurel Highlands High School had an exciting opportunity to explore the world of manufacturing through two industry tours as part of our IMT Pre-Apprenticeship Program in Mr. Smitley’s class.
This group of students spent the day visiting two unique local companies to gain firsthand insight into different areas of manufacturing:
🏭 Hranec – Kicking off the morning, students toured Hranec, a company known for its expertise in HVAC fabrication and metal manufacturing. They got an inside look at the production processes, materials, and equipment used in large-scale manufacturing.
📺 TSItouch – In the afternoon, students shifted gears and visited TSItouch, a company specializing in touchscreen technology and display solutions. Here, they explored the innovation behind high-tech manufacturing and learned how precision engineering plays a role in developing interactive displays.
This experience allowed students to see two very different sides of manufacturing—one focused on heavy industrial fabrication and another on high-tech product development. Through these tours, they gained a better understanding of potential career paths and the skills needed to succeed in the industry. These opportunities give our pre-apprentices a chance to see what the world of manufacturing is like and how their MSSC modules support that!
We’re excited to see where this experience takes them as they continue their Pre-Apprenticeship journey!
Thank you two both of these wonderful companies for providing tours for us!
