We are thrilled to highlight the pre-apprentices from Laurel Highlands High School who recently participated in an exciting hands-on technical training session at Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC) at the Advanced Technology Center. This unique opportunity allowed students to dive into the world of machining through the Introduction to Machining Workshop, designed to provide foundational knowledge and practical experience.
During this four-hour session, students learned about essential machining techniques, safety protocols, and the operation of basic tools. They gained insight into how raw materials are transformed into precise and functional components, reinforcing their classroom learning with real-world applications. Under the guidance of a qualified WCCC instructor, students engaged in interactive demonstrations and hands-on exercises that broadened their understanding of manufacturing processes.
This experience is a key step in preparing our students for future careers in the skilled trades and advanced manufacturing industries. By collaborating with institutions like WCCC, we ensure that our pre-apprentices are exposed to industry-relevant training that bridges the gap between education and workforce readiness.
A huge thank you to Westmoreland County Community College for providing this invaluable training experience! We look forward to continuing our partnership and creating more opportunities for students to develop the skills they need to succeed.
