In the ever-evolving landscape of Industry 4.0, staying ahead means embracing innovation at its core. Today, in partnership with Pittsburgh Technical College and The Consortium for Public Education, we continued our Industry 4.0 Teacher Academy sessions with a hands-on Intro to Additive Manufacturing Workshop. There were 14 enthusiastic attendees at the workshop including seasoned teachers seeking to enhance their curriculum to forward-thinking administrators eager to stay abreast of technological advancements, and guidance counselors hoping to guide their students in new directions.
Fueling our exploration was a panel discussion featuring industry professionals from manufacturing companies and academia. The panelists were from Aurora, CMU’s Manufacturing Futures Institute, and Robert Morris University. Their expertise illuminated the possibilities of additive manufacturing, sparking dynamic conversations on its applications across industries.
But our workshop wasn’t confined to theoretical discussion. Thanks to the invaluable guidance of Pittsburgh Technical College instructors, participants immersed themselves in the tangible world of additive manufacturing. Through hands-on sessions, they navigated the intricacies of 3D printing, prototyping, and beyond. Witnessing concepts materialize before their eyes, attendees gained some new knowledge of the technology’s capabilities, ready to inspire their students.
At its heart, our workshop was a testament to the power of education to drive innovation. These educators are striving to equip the next generation with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. By harnessing the potential of additive manufacturing, they will not only prepare students for future careers but instill in them a spirit of creativity.
We are looking forward to the continuation of our Industry 4.0 Teacher Academy sessions! The connections made at these sessions are invaluable. If you are interested in attending our next session on March 20th – register asap! Check back to our webpage often to see other upcoming sessions.
